BJ Moore, Ontario County NY Dispatcher Dies:Sheriff’s Office Mourns Loss
ONTARIO COUNTY, NY – The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the unexpected loss of BJ Moore, a dedicated dispatcher who served the community for over eight years. Moore passed away suddenly on Tuesday at the age of 34, leaving colleagues and community members in shock.
Moore began working as a dispatcher in 2015, quickly becoming an integral part of the sheriff’s communication team. Known for her professionalism and compassionate demeanor, she was often the first voice callers heard during emergency situations.
“BJ was more than just a dispatcher – she was the heart of our communications center,” said Sheriff William L. Walker. “Her dedication to serving our community was unwavering, and her loss leaves a tremendous void in our department.”

Colleagues described Moore as reliable, caring, and always willing to go above and beyond for both fellow officers and community members. Her calm presence during high-stress situations made her an invaluable asset to emergency response operations.
The sheriff’s office has established a memorial fund in Moore’s honor to support her family during this difficult time. A memorial service is planned for next week at the Ontario County Courthouse.
Moore is survived by her husband, two children, and extended family. The community is invited to share condolences and memories of her service.
